Conor Mcgregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 Results

The headlining event of UFC 264 is a lightweight trilogy between Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier and former Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. In their featherweight bout of UFC 178 in September 2014, Mc Gregor won by first-round technical knockout. Dustin Poirier’s comeback at UFC 257 was also by a knockout but in the second round.

The McGregor Vs. Poirier event at UFC 257 took place on January 24th, 2021, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, The United Arab Emirates. The fight was the headline and main event after their previous meeting at UFC 178. In attendance were 2600 live audiences.

At the end of the first round, Poirier had secured 27 points while McGregor had 22 points. Then came the second round when Poirier was leading the judges’ cards by 6 points against McGregor’s 5 at the clock’s 02:32, where it all went down. Poirier took his knockout revenge. He then became the Interim UFC 257 Lightweight Champion.

Verdict

The bone of contention now arises. Both fighters have fought twice and are at a squared ground with a TKO each. The chance for one to triumph over the other has presented itself once again, and notable is Mc Gregor’s streak of UFC headlining events. What has McGregor in store for Poirier? Or should I say, What has Poirier in store for McGregor? May May 1st, have the social distancing restriction stricken off for the awaiting 20,000 die-hards to come and witness live the trilogy settlement on July 10th, 2021.  For the title of the UFC 264 lightweight Champion, who are you betting on?

Months before talk of a fight between Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns started, Wonderboy revealed how he would approach a potential showdown against Durinho.

Stephen Thompson gave a breakdown of the top 10 UFC welterweight fighters for MMA On Point in December 2020. Wonderboy admitted that grappling with a Jiu-Jitsu ace in Burns would not go well for him if they fought.

Thompson highlighted the reach advantage he has over Burns, as he sees the four-inch reach advantage as a significant factor.

"(He has) power in his hands. One hitter quitter power... He's a high-level grappler. Could I compete with this guy on the ground? Heck no, man. I've got the reach on him. So that's going to play the part."

Stephen Thompson went on to speak about how the grappling exchanges might play out if he gets taken down to the ground. While he is confident about getting back up if a takedown happens near the Octagon walls, Wonderboy knows that a takedown in the center would mean a certain defeat.

"If I get taken down close to the cage, my goal is to get my back to the cage asap (and stand back up using the cage). Out in the open... he can take that situation down the rabbit hole that I am not able to get out of. Up against the cage, if I get myself up against the cage... He's not gonna take my back. Hopefully I can defend every one of his takedowns or he is going to go out there and take me down one time and next thing you know I am being choked out... and sometimes, that's the way the fight game is."

Stephen Thompson is a decorated striker and a seasoned veteran of the sport. The major takeaway from Wonderboy's breakdown is that he knows the limitations of his fighting style.

As reported by ESPN, the UFC is close to finalizing the welterweight bout between No. 6-ranked Stephen Thompson and No. 2-ranked Gilbert Burns for UFC 264.

Stephen Thompson (16-4-1 MMA, 11-4-1 UFC) is a former two-time title challenger who lost razor-thin decisions to former champion Tyron Woodley. Wonderboy's last fight was a dominant unanimous decision win against Geoff Neil on the Final Night event in 2020. He is currently riding a two-fight winning streak after suffering two consecutive losses against Darren Till and Anthony Pettis.

Gilbert Burns (19-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) is fresh off a loss against champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 258 in February 2021. Following his loss to Usman, Burns had shown inclination towards fighting No.1-ranked Colby Covington. However, Covington refused to take the fight and reiterated that he will wait for the title opportunity to show up.

Rising UFC star "Sugar" O'Malley, 26, will make his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon against "Da Last Samurai" Smolka, 29.

GIVEMESPORT has confirmed reports the #14 and #41-ranked 135-pounders will meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10 following an initial report from Fight Game Media.

O'Malley (13-1) is coming off a third-round KO of Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 in March. The Arizona native has won five of his past six fights. O'Malley boasts a 4-1 record in the UFC with three wins coming by way of knockout.

Former Pacific Xtreme Combat flyweight champion Smolka, meanwhile, has been on the sidelines for the last five months, following a second-round TKO of Jose Alberto Quinonez at UFC Vegas 16.

The Hawaiian has alternated wins and losses in his past four fights, including a loss to O'Malley's teammate Casey Kenney.

Victory over the grizzled veteran Smolka could kick start a run to the top of the rankings for O'Malley, who has successfully rebounded from his first career loss against Marlon Vera.

The card will be headlined by a legacy-defining trilogy bout in the lightweight division between "The Notorious" Conor McGregor and the in-form Dustin Poirier.

McGregor (22-5) hasn't won a UFC fight since January 2020, while Poirier (27-6) is undefeated in his previous two fights since losing to former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2019.

UFC 264 card (as it stands):

Ryan Hall vs Ilia Topuria

Jerome Rivera vs Zhalgas Zhumagulov

Omari Akhmedov vs Brad Tavares

Tai Tuivasa vs Greg Hardy

Kevin Lee has a date and an opponent for his return to action following a year-plus on the sidelines.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Lee and Sean Brady is being targeted for UFC 264. Verbal agreements are in place for the welterweight bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ESPN was first to report the booking.

Lee is set to compete for the first time since suffering a third-round submission loss to Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC Brasilia in March 2020. Since then, “The Motown Phenom” has been recovering from injuries, including tearing both of his ACLs. The former interim title challenger heads back up to 170 pounds and will look to have a better result from his submission loss to Rafael dos Anjos in May 2019 when he made the jump up for the first time in his career.

Brady has been widely considered one of the division’s top prospects as he lands the biggest opportunity of his career to date. The 28-year-old has won all 14 of his professional fights, including a 4-0 start to his UFC run. Brady holds octagon unanimous decision wins over Court McGee and Ismail Naurdiev, as well as back-to-back submission wins over Christian Aguilera and Jake Matthews.

UFC 264 will be headlined by the highly anticipated third meeting between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

Ryan Hall will return to the octagon after a two-year layoff.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a featherweight matchup between Hall and Ilia Topuria is set fo UFC 264. The event takes place July 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Adjara Sport was the first to report the targeted matchup.

The bout had been reported in March but sources told MMA Fighting that it wasn’t done at the time due to Hall still recovering from a hip injury that forced him out of his March 13 bout with Dan Ige.

Hall has won eight straight, including all four of his UFC appearances. “The Wizard” hasn’t competed in the octagon since his unanimous decision win over Darren Elkins at UFC Sacramento in July 2019.

Topuria is one of the division’s highly touted prospects with victories in all 10 of his professional fights. “El Matador” is 2-0 in the UFC with a decision win over Youssef Zalal in October and a blistering first-round knockout of Damon Jackson at UFC Vegas 16 in December.

UFC 264 will be headlined by the trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

A pair of former women’s flyweight title challengers will try to get back on track this summer.

Jessica Eye (15-9 MMA, 5-8 UFC) is set to take on Jennifer Maia (18-7-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at a UFC show set for July 10. No venue or location has been announced.

MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with a person with knowledge of the booking following an initial report from MMA Fighting.

After a rough 1-5 start to her UFC tenure at bantamweight, Eye dropped to flyweight and won three straight against Kalinda Faria, Jessica-Rose Clark and Katlyn Chookagian to earn a shot at champion Valentina Shevchenko.

But at UFC 238 in June 2019, Shevchenko landed a bonus-winning head kick early in the second round that put Eye out cold.

After that setback, Eye beat Viviane Araujo in a fight in which she missed weight. She missed the mark on the scale a second straight time in a June 2020 loss to Cynthia Calvillo. And at UFC 257. in January, Eye lost a decision to Joanne Calderwood.

Maia is coming off a loss to Shevchenko, as well. At UFC 255 this past November, the champ outworked her with a trio of 49-46. scorecards.

Maia earned her title shot on the strength of three wins in four fights. After back-to-back decisions over Alexis Davis and Roxanne Modafferi, Maia lost a decision to Chookagian. But she bounced back with a submission of Calderwood in August 2020, and that was enough to get her shot at Maia.

UFC middleweights Omari Akhmedov and Brad Tavares will collide inside the octagon at the UFC 264 on July 10, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting.

The UFC has yet to announce the card’s headlining attraction and location.

Akhmedov (21-5-1) submitted Tom Breese in his most recent octagon appearance in January, returning to the win column following a unanimous decision defeat to former 185-pound champion Chris Weidman five months prior.

“Wolverine” has only lost once in his past eight UFC bouts, a run that includes wins over Ian Heinisch and Tim Boetsch and a majority draw with Marvin Vettori.

Tavares (18-6) defeated jiu-jitsu specialist Antonio Carlos Junior earlier this year in Abu Dhabi, his first victory since back-to-back losses to future champion Israel Adesanya and Edmen Shahbazyan.

The 33-year-old has gone 13-6 in more than decade under the UFC banner, including wins over former title contenders Thales Leites and Nate Marquardt.

Greg Hardy has been granted his wish for a matchup with Tai Tuivasa.

The heavyweight powerhouses will meet at UFC 264 on July 10, a person with knowledge of the booking told MMA Junkie on Tuesday. The person requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

Hardy (7-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Tuivasa (11-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) faced different fates in their most recent outings. In December, Hardy lost to Marcin Tybura by second-round TKO. The stoppage came after a successful first round for Hardy, who struggled to escape Tybura’s clutches when the fight hit the mat in Round 2. It was Hardy’s first career stoppage loss and snapped a two-fight winning streak.

As for Tuivasa, he’s riding a two-fight winning streak. The back-to-back victories came on the heels of a three-fight winning streak. The first leg occurred when Tuivasa knocked out Stefan Struve in October.

Tuivasa most recently competed March 20 at UFC on ESPN 21 where he quickly defeated promotional newcomer Harry Hunsucker by TKO in 49 seconds. Tuivasa’s original opponent Don’Tale Mayes withdrew from the fight days prior to the event.

UFC 264 does not have an official location or venue. UFC president Dana White recently said he’s hopeful the event will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with fans in attendance.

The latest UFC 264 lineup now includes:

Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor

Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson

Jessica Eye vs. Jennifer Maia

Greg Hardy vs. Tai Tuivasa

Dricus Du Plessis and Trevin Giles have once again been paired together.

The two middleweight fighters are now set to square off July 10 at UFC 264. The event takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by the trilogy bout between former UFC champions Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

The two fighters were originally scheduled to fight March 20 at UFC on ESPN 21 in Las Vegas. It never transpired, however, because Du Plessis encountered visa issues.

Du Plessis (15-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC), a former KSW champion, won his UFC debut in October, when he knocked out Markus Perez in the first round. The victory extended his winning streak to three. Du Plessis has finished 15 of his 17 professional MMA wins.

After Du Plessis withdrew from their originally scheduled meeting, Giles (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) faced Roman Doldize, who he defeated by unanimous decision. The win came on the heels of back-to-back victories over James Krause and Bevon Lewis.

With the addition, the UFC 264 lineup includes:

Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor

Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson

Jessica Eye vs. Jennifer Maia

Ryan Hall vs. Ilia Topuria

Omari Akhmedov vs. Brad Tavares

Jerome Rivera vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov

Greg Hardy vs. Tai Tuivasa

Dricus Du Plessis vs. Trevin Giles

A top-five matchup in the women's bantamweight division is heading to the UFC's July PPV event.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion's plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a fight between Irene Aldana and Yana Kunitskaya is being targeted for UFC 264. The event takes place July 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ESPN Deportes was first to report the booking.

Aldana will look to get back in the win column after an impressive 5-1 run led to her first main event bout. Following a first-round KO win over Ketlen Vieira at UFC 245, Aldana, the current No. 4 ranked 135er, took on Holly Holm at UFC Fight Island 4 this past October and dropped a five-round unanimous decision to the former UFC bantamweight champion, snapping a two-fight winning streak.

Kunitskaya has won two straight and four of her last five bouts to jump into the No. 5 spots in the rankings. After a TKO loss to Aspen Ladd in December 2019, “Foxy” picked up back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Vieira and Julija Stoliarenko. A win could put Kunitskaya in a position to get a shot at a UFC world title for the second time.

UFC 264 is headlined by the rubber match between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

Hu Yaozong returns to the UFC after a three year absence on July 10th (local time). The Chinese light heavyweight has not fought for nearly three years and returns after serving a ten month USADA suspension.

At UFC 264 he will be looking to secure his first win inside the octagon at the third attempt. The 26-year-old has been matched with Alen Amedovski in a middleweight fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Yaozong (3-2) was last seen dropping a decision to Rashad Coulter at UFC Beijing in 2018. His record inside the octagon stands at 0-2 but he remains on the roster.

Amedovski (8-2) hails from Macedonia and is also winless in his two UFC outings. He did enjoy success with Bellator, winning two fights out of two by first round stoppage.

UFC 264 looks set to be the biggest card of the year. In the main event Dustin Poirier (27-6) and Conor McGregor (22-5) fight for the third time in a lightweight non title five rounder.

The event sold out in minutes and there are expected to be 20,800 fans in attendance.

The undercard of UFC 264 continues to take shape.

Welterweight sluggers Michel Pereira and Niko Price will square off in the latest addition to the July 10 pay-per-view event at T-Mobile Arena. UFC 264, headlined by the Dustin Poirier vs. The Conor McGregor trilogy, will be the first UFC card held in front of a capacity crowd in Las Vegas since UFC 248 in March 2020.

The promotion on Thursday announced the booking, which was first reported by AgFight.

Pereira (25-11 MMA, 3-2 UFC) looks to increase his winning streak to three in his first fight of 2021. Following a two-fight skid, the 27-year-old Brazilian most recently defeated Zelim Imadaev and Khaos Williams in back-to-back outings.

Price (14-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC), meanwhile, has gone 1-2 with one no contest in his most recent four fights. In 2020, Price lost to Vicente Luque by doctor stoppage before a draw vs. Donald Cerrone was overturned to a no contest when he tested positive for marijuana.

Vegas Is Back! Don't Miss A Single Second Of This Epic Trilogy At UFC 264 on July 10, 2021 at T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas.

UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place on July 10, 2021 at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States.
A lightweight trilogy between former interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier and former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor will be the event headliner.

The pairing has previously met twice before, once as featherweights and once already as lightweights. Their first fight was a featherweight bout that happened in September 2014 at UFC 178, where McGregor won by first-round technical knockout. They then ascended to lightweight for an eventual rematch in January 2021 at UFC 257, where Poirier prevailed via second-round technical knockout.

Conor McGregor's trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier has the 'potential' to break the UFC pay-per-view record.

That's the opinion of the American's coach Mike Brown, who has helped to ramp up the buzz ahead of the Irishman's instant shot at redemption.

The MMA world was left stunned back in January when McGregor had his calves kicked out from under him by the unfancied Diamond at UFC 257 on Fight Island.

Now in Las Vegas, the 33-year-old Irish southpaw gets the opportunity to redeem himself in the main event of UFC 264 in front of a sold-out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena.

UFC president Dana White confirmed to TSN's Aaron Bronsteter that Poirier (26-7), of Lafayette, Louisiana, was offered a crack at the vacant lightweight title against Charles Oliveira, but chose to pursue a rematch with McGregor instead.

And Brown, Poirier's long-time coach at the American Top Team, has given the former UFC interim lightweight champion his full backing.

"Yeah, this is the right choice [for Poirier]," Brown said to MMA Junkie. "Conor is the biggest draw in this sport, and I think this well sell more pay-per-views than any other fight.

"This potentially will be the biggest pay-per-view of all time. It really has that capability, and it probably will. I believe that, and the title fight will always be there after.

"He's still getting better all the time, and another guy who has paid his dues more than anyone. These are the guys that took the long road, the guys that deserve it more than anybody."

For his part, McGregor seems confident he can make the necessary adjustments to combat the calf kicks, which he feels ultimately proved to be his undoing.

But Brown believes Poirier has all the tools needed to beat his old rival in their rubber match and win the series.

"I think Conor believes that the calf kicks is what really was the major problem," he added. "But, it wasn't the calf kicks that knocked him out.

"So I like where we're sitting in this fight, and I'm very confident going into it. The fight game is very complex.

"This is one weapon of potentially thousands or more. We're talking about one weapon there. Dustin has got a lot of them."

According to Forbes, McGregor is still the highest-paid fighter in UFC history, with a net worth of £ 181m, boosted by his high-profile boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

However, he hasn't won a UFC fight since it took him just 40 seconds to knock out Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone in January 2020.

According to Dana White, July 10th's UFC 264 sold out "in seconds" Friday, ensuring a sold-out crowd of nearly 21,000 for the trilogy fight between former two-division champion Conor McGregor and former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.

This is the third US event UFC has opened up to fans with the previous two (April 24th's UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida, and May 15th's UFC 262 in Houston, Texas) both selling out in a few minutes.

While the final attendance won't be known until that night, it will break the previous record set for the T-Mobile Arena, surpassing UFC 229 (McGregor vs. lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov) which had 20,034 fans.

The question is what the final gate number will be. The aforementioned UFC 229 brought in $ 17.2 million, second best in company history behind UFC 205 (McGregor vs. lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez) which did $ 17.7 million for the company's first-ever visit to Madison Square Garden in New York City.

This will be the UFC's first show back in Las Vegas with fans since UFC 248 on March 7th, 2020.

The third fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor is official with the two set to meet on Saturday, July 10th at UFC 264.

UFC president Dana White announced on Wednesday that the fight is official at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada at 100 percent capacity.

ESPN's Ariel Helwani spoke with McGregor, who provided the following statement:

I signed my bout agreement this morning. I'm going to rip this game a new asshole July 10th. The Mac is back in Sin City! Full house!

Their first fight took place in September 2014 at UFC 178 in a featherweight contest that ended with McGregor winning by first-round TKO.

This past January, their rematch generated approximately 1.2 million buys domestically on ESPN + according to John Ourand at Sports Business Journal. Poirier was successful in the rematch with a second-round stoppage of McGregor.

The lightweight championship picture will become clearer in the following months as Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will fight for the vacant championship next month at UFC 262 in Houston, Texas. The championship was vacated by Khabib Nurmagomedov due to his retirement.

Tickets for UFC 264 will go on sale later this week.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will bring live mixed martial arts (MMA) back to the full-capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the upcoming “Poirier Vs. McGregor 3 ”pay-per-view (PPV) event on Sat., July 10, 2021.

UFC 264 will feature the third (and hopefully final) fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. "The Diamond" stopped "Notorious" earlier this year at UFC 257, avenging a previous loss to the Irishman at UFC 178 several years back.

Now they have an official poster.

"Finally, Vegas is open again," said UFC President Dana White. "And you know you've been wanting a badass weekend in Vegas, so don't miss it."

Elsewhere on the UFC 264 fight card, Gilbert Burns collides with fellow welterweight contender Stephen Thompson in a 170-pound action. In addition, bantamweight sensation Sean O'Malley throws hands with well-traveled veteran Louis Smolka, while heavyweight hurter Greg Hardy looks to get back into the win column opposite Tai Tuivasa.
